ok this isn’t my dress, but it has the same bottom part (pleated i think it’s called). how would you hem it without messing it up?
thanks for all your feedback!

question: What is an overlocker?
I’m actually not planning on doing it myself, but i want to know what to tell the…person.

Taking it to the tailor would be the safest bet, but if you have faith in yourself, go for it! First, cut it to the length you want leaving an extra inch. Fold over half an inch (towards the inside of the dress–the wrong side of the fabric) and lightly press (iron), putting a cloth over the fabric if need be (if it is not cotton or linen, your best bet is to use a cloth). Then, fold that over again and pin. Get a hand-sewing needle and thread it. With the dress inside-out, grab a little bit of the folded over part and then a tiny (TINY) bit of the fabric right next to the top of the folded bit of fabric. Then grab a bit of the folded over part and then a tiny (TINY) bit of the fabric right next to the top of the folded bit of fabric. Repeat. After you do this, take the pins out. If you think it will look better pressed (ironed), do so. This stitch is one that will be nearly invisible from the outside. Good luck!
